A Poem for my First Love - Pandoras Box

And there he was
A collection of dusty memories
Stitched together in the shape of a human
Nothing but expired desires
Fabricated into this one person
He played that guitar like he was
Telling his life’s story
Swaying with the beat of the
Indulgent notes and tones
I do not know what came over me
But in those short moments
I fell in love with him all over again
The stitches burst apart
And the memories flood right into my eyes
Through my brain
And like a falling leaf too orange for the tree,
They softly kissed the bottom of my heart,
Just like the leaf would do to the ground
I wanted him, all of him again
Every exchanged word, glance, kiss
But I had already locked him away
Inside pandoras box
He had done the same for me
And although it seems as if he had escaped
Back into my heart
It was just an illusion
Cast by my nostalgic loneliness
And my ability
To let things spiral out of control

eyes

Resurrection

Transaction of glancing eyes
God knows why yours chose mine
Lovers in another life
Buried in an ancient shrine

Across the room we pay our respects
To the possibilities the future holds
Lurking in sea ship wrecks
Lips so warm but blood so cold

History books, maps, and scrolls
Our past encrypted in every word
Breath entwined inside two souls
Valuable, broken, then cheaply sold

Where is my mind?
